Ucluelet will see the construction of a licensed not-for-profit child care facility thanks to $390,000 in funding from the provincial government’s Towns for Tomorrow program, helping make British Columbia’s smaller communities even greener, healthier, more sustainable places to live.
Funding will assist the District of Ucluelet to build a Child Care Centre that offers infant and toddler care, group care, and out-of-school care to approximately 34 children.
The child care centre will be a fundamental component of an Integrated Community Hub for Ucluelet and surrounding area. This hub will provide seamless access to the entire web of services in the community that strengthen families and promote child development.
The funding announcement was made Aug. 30 by Community Services Minister Ida Chong and Linda Reid, Minister of State for Child Care, during a visit to the community.
