An extension to the boardwalk, alongside Rainey Creek, in Stewart is now possible thanks to $32,000 in funding from the provincial government’s Towns for Tomorrow program.
The project will extend the wooden walkway by 81 metres (266 feet) running adjacent to Rainey Creek.
The extension will consist of 19 sections of boardwalk, constructed above the tidal flats to minimize environmental impact.
A viewing platform will also be built, accommodating up to 15 adults.
The funding announcement was made Sept. 20 by Bulkley Valley-Stikine MLA Dennis MacKAY.
