The District of Sparwood is receiving $400,000 from the provincial government’s Towns for Tomorrow program to construct a pedestrian and cycling bridge and pipeline crossing.
This project improves water quality from a health and environmental perspective. Integrating pipe works and opportunities to increase cycling and walking infrastructure reduces the footprint of such works. Transportation work further reduces automobile dependency, thus reducing greenhouse gases and improves air quality.
The funding announcement was made Aug. 23 by East Kootenay MLA Bill Bennett during a visit to the community.
