The District of Mackenzie is benefiting from $160,000 in Towns for Tomorrow funding for the construction of the Little Mac Ski Chalet to replace the existing deteriorating building on Little Mac Ski Hill, creating better recreational opportunities in the community.
The new ski and bike chalet will benefit tourists as well as the many residents in Mackenzie who lead active lifestyles in both the winter and summer seasons. The vandal-proof building will have exterior snowboard/ski lockups, more accessible bathrooms, locker area, staff offices, covered deck and a first aid area. The old building that is to be replaced is currently suffering from severe rot, rodent infestation and damaged roofing.
Prince George-North MLA Pat Bell announced the funding July 25, 2008.
