Fort Nelson is benefiting from $400,000 in Towns for Tomorrow funding for upgrades to its multi-use recreation facility. The highly popular recreation centre is a vital part of Fort Nelson's infrastructure and a cornerstone of the community.
The grant will help Fort Nelson construct a Zamboni room and a services room to house the facility's new 190-tonne refrigeration plant. The refrigeration plant will be fitted with a snow melt heat exchanger, as well as heat exchangers for domestic hot water and space heating, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Peace River North MLA Richard Neufeld announced the funding July 29, 2008.
