Cumberland to Install a Universal Water Metering Program

The Village of Cumberland is benefiting from $400,000 in Towns for Tomorrow funding for a Universal Water Metering Program to create a greener, healthier and more sustainable community for residents.

The total capital cost of the Program is $809,738. The program involves the installation of water meters on all connections in the community and the purchase of billing software in order to reduce water consumption. Water metering will protect the water supply, ensure fish flows by enabling water conservation and reduce green house gas emissions through a more efficient operation system.

Comox Valley MLA Stan Hagen made the announcement July 16, 2008.
