The District of Chetwynd will receive $400,000 for sanitary sewer and water extension upgrades along Westgate Road from the provincial government’s Towns for Tomorrow program.
The project will extend the municipal sanitary sewer and drinking water to nine rural residential lots, the municipal museum and the cemetery.
The project will service one of two areas within the municipality currently not receiving municipal water or sewer services, resulting in additional services for 25-30 people.
The total estimated cost of the project is $1,114,000.
The announcement was made Aug. 20 by Parliamentary Secretary for Rural Development and Peace River South MLA Blair Lekstrom during a visit to the community.
