The Province is providing $334,760 through the Towns for Tomorrow program to the District of 100 Mile House to upgrade the historic Martin Exeter Hall and 100 Mile Lodge Conference Centre.
The announcement was made by Premier Gordon Campbell during a visit to 100 Mile House July 25.
The funds will support much-needed upgrades to the facility, including the removal of a deteriorated outdoor pool and the replacement of an aged sewer lift station. The lift station will be replaced and its capacity increased to serve the surrounding residential community as well up to 29 new residences. The design will ensure that a future upgrade would be possible to service the nearby light industrial area. Safety will be also be improved with upgraded smoke alarms and emergency signage and lighting.
100 Mile Lodge was the original roadhouse for this area's gold rush and has great historical significance for the community.
